The snow may be gone (hopefully), but we'll continue to wear our rain boots to work, trudging through puddles like vikings on their way to battle. On the bright side, it is SPRING (you can hear the birds chirping, right?) and, a rainy weekend is the perfect excuse to curl up and watch some good flicks. Below are my top picks for April, all currently streaming on Netflix. Some might refer to these as guilty pleasures. I feel no guilt. Only pleasure. Grab some popcorn, maybe a tissue, and enjoy the show.
Bridget Jones's Diary
This movie makes me so happy inside. At first, you think it's going to be all about choosing the right guy, when it's actually about being happy with yourself—your flawed, sometimes embarrassing, but mostly wonderful self. In the wise words of Mr. Mark Darcy,"You're perfect, just as you are." Swoon.
If I admitted that I had a poster of this movie in my dorm room in college, would you judge me? ...That's a yes. Regardless, if you've seen this, you know why it's making the list. If you haven't, watch it! Amelie is magical, beautiful, and full of light. Perfect on a gray day.
Correct. This is not a movie. This is seven seasons worth of Lorelai and Rory, the dynamic mother-daughter duo (who speak so fast—pay attention or you'll miss a good quip) who are living their little, quirky lives in my dream small town scenario. You'll laugh! You'll cry! You'll want to call your mom.
Because Diane Keaton is perfect. Because New York City in the '70s. Because even if you don't love Woody Allen movies, you can't not love this.
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly is everything. A country girl moves away to the big city and becomes the It Girl of the moment. Like Bridget, she's another imperfect heroin you can't help but adore.
